Today I'm gonna tell you about muslim wedding in Indonesia so there are three phases commonly:
1. Khitbah - Proposal - Lamaran
2. Aqad - Marriage Contract - Akad Nikah
3. Walimatul 'Ursy - Party/Reception/Celebration - Pesta Pernikahan/Resepsi/Kondangan
Islamically like that, but traditionally there are a lot more than just that, depends on:
- the suku (tribes/ethnic groups) background inherited in each family;
- places, I mean adat istiadat (tradition) in each region 🏞️⛱️🌃
Islamically khitbah is just a man asking permission to a woman's family or her Dad to marry that girl but sometimes nowadays the man came with extended family and the girl also welcoming with their extended family (and friends)
Aqad is legal contract marriage and it's wajib or a must to be legally married before having intercourse here for those muslims who still hold tight to their religion
And the last, wedding reception or wedding party or walimah or kondangan it's not a must but recommended
But since pandemic we just doing the aqad mostly the most important thing and just wear proper clothes.
